About MIDI

The music is stored in a format called MIDI. If your computer has a sound card you can probably already play files of this type. If you did not hear music when you entered the main page then check with a clik here! If everything is OK you will hear a melody from the 16th century namely the tune of my choir Audite: 'Audite, Silete'.

MIDI files are very compact. As an example the size of the above MIDI file containing 'Audite, Silete' is only 3KB.

If you should like to make MIDI files yourself here are a few programs that might help you:

• Musicator is a good example of a MIDI authoting program. Using the mouse you can write each node but in the long run it becomes too slow. With a MIDI keyboard it goes much faster because the program then 'records' what you play. Read more and download a demo version of the program from Roland. There are a lot of other similar programs.
• Put a score in your scanner and get it back as a MIDI file! It sounds like magic but it is in fact what the shareware program SharpEye offers.
